It appears you are right. I used to have a BMW 325e like that. It constantly would bust the oil pan on even mild dips in the road.

I used those switches for years on HI P boat engines I built, but I had them hooked to the ignition.
If you lose oil pressure and it shuts of the fuel supply, there is enough fuel left to destroy the engine. By going to the ignition, it's an instant shutdown
