You know that car is going to fetch some real big money.
Notice it's the only Lee that ever had the chrome side rockers.
And it appears to have the correct Cobra 78x CB radio used on the show. I happened to sell one of those several months ago for $65. For a 33 year old radio.
Also there should be an Oxford college sticker in the windshield that was there when Warner Brothers originally purchased the car.
Yes it's a cult icon and loved by car guys all over the world and it would be awesome to own, but you'd think that all the clones out there would somewhat dilute the value a bit.
Clones...maybe. But apparently this car is supposed to be one of the first 3 Lee's used on the show, and the first to make a jump, and yet the first not to be totally damaged on landing, like most of the other Lee's.
If Travis Bell (founder of the North American General Lee Fan Club) says that this is the original one, then is has to be true? He's the person that supposedly found it wrecked in a junkyard. It's kind of self serving in my opinion. I would think that anyone that plans on shelling out possibly a million dollars for this car, would want a bit more proof than the word of Travis Bell. Maybe documentation from the property people who were associated with filming the T.V. program would be more in line.

I'm reading the article as "the car was wrecked"
Known as “Lee 1,” this is the car seen flying through the air during the opening credits of the show, and was used during the filming of the first episode before being wrecked as it landed the famous jump. It was the first of more than 300 cars used during the seven-year run of the program. Only a couple of dozen are still known to exist.
It was jumped, but somehow wasn't damaged (so they say) like the other cars were....then it was reused in the 3rd episode as an ex Richard Petty race car. That is how it was found in a GA junkyard over 10 years ago, before it was restored back to pre jump status.

If that's true, I would still want some type of documentation before shelling out a million bucks. I remember reading an article and watching a program about some old Auto Union racer that was supposed to fetch a gazillion bucks at auction. The car was beautiful and supposedly documented until someone questioned the authenticity of the car. It was removed from auction and I haven't heard a thing about it since.
I have some sentiment for Kathrine Back but she turned into such a cow I have to say JS is the best. Oh, is this about the car?
