My " Change Oil Soon" light has come on even though I had the oil changed 1,000 miles ago last December. The level looks right at the top so I didn't add any. It even looks good, not dark.
Should I wait another 2,000 miles and 3 months or so or try to reset the oil sensor? I remember its pumping the brake with the ignition key in.
What kind of car? Where did you have the oil changed?
It sounds like they didn't reset the oil indicator when you had it changed.
My car does that. It's an intermittent problem, more frequent when it rains. It goes on when I brake or idle, and turns off when I accelerate. Sometimes it's fine for days, and then the problem comes back. I've had my oil checked several times. The mechanic says it's a short but isn't sure where. I change and check my oil frequently, so I just ignore it now.

So the solution is to put black electrical tape over the oil light.
Gasp! your Volvo-driving parents failed you!
We are suffering the same just recently but only on turning corners and then it is only Occasional? RETRIEVER's answer appears very detailed......would all these directions apply if the light only appears when turning? it does not occur when idling...yet!

Yes. The oil pump has a pickup tube with a screen on it. If part of that screen gets clogged by sludge caking on it, you are not getting the full flow of oil. When you go around a corner the oil sloshes to one side and is not in contact with that part of the screen that is still open. Another cause is clogged channels through the head(s). Oil could be gathering inside the lifter/pushrod area and draining slowly, resulting in a shortage of oil in the pan. Either could be hazardous to the life of your engine in time, and will only get worse, if that is the problem.
