Where's the base model Corvette, it starts at $49,600 so I'm confused as to why it was excluded. That'd take the top honors away from the GT500 if it wasn't missing.
And next year the GT500 is starting at around $55K which will knock it off the list although it'll gain 100 ponies in the process. I guess that equates to about $60 per horsepower, not a bad deal in my book even at the increased price.
Good luck getting most of those cars under 50k after TTL. But if we're talking under 50k sticker a base C6 would dominate every car on that list 0-190mph while doing it all motor

don't be so sure.. Base Corvette would have its hands full with a new Boss 302 and a new GT500..

I don't think the Corvette would have any problem beating the Boss 302 but the new GT500 might be interesting. I'm curious to read reviews of the 2013 Shelby GT500 when it comes out and the inevitable comparisons that come with it.
I still think it's comparing apples to oranges when comparing any Mustang to a Corvette. The Mustang/Shelby is a pony car and targets the Camaro and Challenger rather than going after the Corvette.
I'm curious to see if the Shelby can even make use of 650 horsepower; it seems that once you get over 500 horsepower in ANY vehicle, it's more for bragging rights than actual performance.

The Shelby will have launch control so it will be able to harness those 650 hprses just fine..
actually the Mustang GT would be tops on the list at 420 hp and 300+ lbs lighter then the SS Camaro and a base price of $30k.. It not on the list but it would have been number 3 if it was..
I was simply going off the given list. So by definition the GT could not be top or bottom of this list.
What would be the power to weight ratio for the GT?

I wondered that as well. A Vette should always be in a bang for the buck list.
What's interesting is that the list is titled fastest cars, but no speeds are given. Only HP-weight, which doesn't tell the whole speed story. The article blathers on about how 0-60 times don't mean as much, but at the end of the race, whoever crosses the finish line first wins.

I think I've lost any faith in a list that doesn't include a 430 hp, $49,600 Corvette as a vehicle that offers bang for the buck.
What about the Taurus SHO?! It cranks out 365 hp. Or the Cadillac CTS 3.6 DI has 318 hp for less than $50K.
Strange list.
