2011 Mercedes ML350 Diesel. Garbage car. Service engine light nearly always on during warranty period, then needed a $3,000 emission repair just after the warranty ended so I dumped it with less than 60k miles on the odometer.
I truly hated that vehicle. I've since entered the Toyota/Lexus family and haven't seen a check engine light since.
I have a number of family members who, after buying their first Lexus, have said they will never drive anything else...and all have stuck to that.
We used to drive VW Rabbits. Great cars, but they had a problem with leaks around the windshield. And then the rain would come THROUGH the fuse box. I remember once parking at a motel in a rainstorm, the rear of the car was higher than the front. The water in the accelerator/brake area was inches deep.
This is hilarious now in days there are far less crazy things going on with vehicles.
1969 Pontiac. Don't remember which model. Too small inside, still got horrible gas mileage. Things kept going wrong with it, the most annoying being the hideaway windshield wipers. A few years later my mother bought a LeMans and had trouble with it. I was not surprised when that brand was eliminated.
Pontiac Phoenix. Early 80's.
They are like the Chevrolet Citation. It was the first popular front wheel drive car. Chevy sold a lot of them at first, but for good reasons, sales dwindled.
'89 Dodge Dakota. The running gear was total crap. Seals leaked, clutch forks bent (twice!) so the clutch would not release, synchro gears locked up the transmission. It cost me a fortune in repairs.
Wife,s 2005 Ford Expy. Bought as A new Left over. 5.4 Triton V8 auto 4x4. Back twice to the Dealer. Leather second row seat cover came off. And front left bucket leather seat began to disintegrate.
With looking into my files. All went south at around 70K Rear hatch paint bubbled, hood paint as [ not as bad] .
All the following work [ other oil/filter ] was done by Two Very reputable Auto repair shops that I am friendly with the owners. Idler and tension pulleys , Front and rear HVAC blend doors. Front Blower resistor , Stereo CD player., multi switch on the steering column [ controls High/low beams, directional s] Starter, Ring gear, Rear main seal, Rear drive axle pinion and axle seals.
New trans at 100K . Plugs, all 8 coil packs.few at a time. Had to have the front and rear axles at least once a year.
Driver info system had a short, so the display would come and go.
The last straw was the Exhaust system. Both Cats were shot. [pipes and muffler OK] Left side cat $1300. Right side cat $1200. Had to be CARB compliant.
Always kept clean, never on the beach. Limited snow use. [Long Island Car]
2002 VW Jetta - total lemon. Faulty electronic problems, sun roof would open by itself, power steering went out, car wouldn't start and needed towing twice, air leak in the drivers side window, cheap front fender fell off when parking too close to a concrete parking block. Celebrated dumping the car.
2006 BMW 330 ci - bought from a fraud dealership that sold my co-worker and I cars that had been in a wreck. (Didn't know about it until after it was long gone.) By the time my warranty expired I had to dump the car due to all the problems. Power steering went out, something with the break bushings, heater stopped working, more mechanical issues - I can't remember. No more German cars for me!
