I doubt it. Oil company executives, are overwhelmingly Republican and they want Obama OUT. They wouldn't willingly do anything to lessen the chances of that.

Nope, I think this is normal market forces at work....suppply and demand and all that kind of stuff.

It happens in every election year regardless of party affiliation. It happened with Clinton, Bush, and now Obama. It isn't anything new or strange people.

It didn't happen with Bush. During this week in 2008 the national average for regular was $4.07. It actually stayed above $4 for most of July too under Bush.

A president could drop gas prices, just cut the taxes on it. (don't ask me how to fix the roads)

Cheapest within several miles of here is still $3.45, but apparently some in the wider Pittsburgh area are down into the $3.35 range.

Federal tax is 18.4 cents per gallon (24.4 for diesel) so it isn't that much of a drop even if it were cut to zero. The president can't do that singlehandedly anyway; congress would have to do it.

Average state tax is around 30 cents a gallon, but that varies widely. Some are down in the teens, and some are higher.

I had to laugh at the above... Corporation executives belong to the "money political party". They contribute to BOTH political parties in elections where either candidate might win.

They want to be sure *all* elected representatives are "in their pocket". Following is just one story about an oil company and Obama. There are plenty more to be found for all candidates of BOTH parties. As a rule, EVERYONE in Washington is bought and paid for!
