At an intersection? and not in park, logical difference is brakes. not sure about the origin, but you are stepping on the brakes when you are at an intersection, so, see if you can start narrowing it down.

hi asubram,

Turns out, I have the exact same problem with my 2005 Maxima. The car starts cold at first crank in the morning and there's no buzzing/humming sound at all. Drives well for about 8 miles or so. And then each time I stop, the humming sound can be heard. If I press on the accelerator even slightly while the humming sound is on, it goes away. But the point is, always comes when I am stopped and the car is hot.

Did you happen to get to the bottom of whatever was causing the problem with your car ?

Noise goes away the second I press the accelerator from idle, but reappears after a while. Intensity of sound seems to be mostly independent of my speed, and whether I am turning or not, so it's probably not suspension components (?).

Anyone who could give me an idea of what it could be? The source of the noise seems to be somewhere inside the hood, if that helps. Could it be a pump going out? Or power steering problem? Maybe a sticking valve? Car is a 1994 Grand Marquis.

Thanks in advance for answers!
