At least they are being honest and proactive in warning consumers. I own a VW and we have quite a few problems that should be recalled but most likely never will be since they aren't life threatening. For one, my back rear windshield fluid nozzle leaks. Also, I hear VW's are infamous for having the window regulators fail. I still love my VW, but I loved my Honda too. That Honda lasted 212K miles without too many repairs until I got rid of it myself.
I wish my VW would start on fire more often so we could get a recall
Sorry the Pinto thing wasn't on my radar, I am 30 and have a 2 year old and a pregnant wife, and it was before my time.
As for Recalls coming out quickly I do agree with NJgoat, there is some BS behind the recall. Has anyone here every had a mechanic apply grease to their window mechanisms? If so why was your window mechanism having issues and requiring grease.
I do too, but its funny some of the things that people bring up, its some distant connected person with like a 20 year old car that has like a bad alternator or something. Lol.
