The 7.3 is a fantastic engine. The only reason Ford moved away from it to the 6.0/6.4 engines was to meet emissions compliance standards. The big crap shoot here is that the value can be anywhere from scrap to several thousand dollars. It really comes down to overall condition of the body, any recent work that was done and the maintenance history. While the 7.3's are great motors, they do need to be maintained to get the most life out of them. Ultimately, this is something that can't be answered without knowing all of the factors and seeing the vehicle in person. A good idea may be to find a good local diesel mechanic and have them take a look at it. Those vans were very popular with fleets, so any tech who has been in the business at a commercial diesel shop and/or Ford truck dealer would be very familiar with them.
