I accidentally* cut off a guy once. He came around to my drivers side with his window open yelling and pointing at me. initially, I just blew him off and sped up. But I was feeling slightly mischievous. I rolled my window down and let him catch up. He was huffing and puffing as I expected he would be [with his kid in the car, no less]. When he finished, I said "Hey, do you still have that table saw I loaned you?" He looked so confused. Tension alleviated.
[*] "accidental" in that he came out of my blind spot
Let it go. Sure, I get pissed off at times, but if I got upset with every lousy driver out there, I'd be upset ALL the time. Life's too short for that.
I try not to be an idiot myself. Imagine what driving would be like if everyone behind a wheel played nicely with others.

I'm a very nice driver. I try not to be an idiot. I try to make life easier for other drivers, but it's annoying when people don't take advantage. There are a few things that I find annoying:
Those who don't use their turning signal
Those who don't pay attention to when I'm being courteous
Those in the left lane who don't realize that everyone is going around them
For instance: On the opposite side of the road, there were 2 cops waiting at the bottom of a hill where the speed limit is 30 mph. So, I flashed the guy that was coming. He gave me the finger, next thing you know he was pulled over.
I let it go... but depending on the move, I get curious as to who the other driver is. I would pull next to them, look over, shake my head and just go on my merry way.
When I make a idiotic move, I acknowledge the mistake and for some reason, I verbally say "I'm sorry" even tho I know they cant hear me lol
The few times a month I drive I just want to get where Im going with no drama. If I anger somebody or they do something to me, so what? No big deal. I just dont have time for angry imbeciles. I would spend more time at my job if that was the case.
It's ironic that the people who appear to be in the most hurry are the ones who can always find time to stop and engage in childish behavior. Very strange . . . .
I stopped getting upset when other drivers annoy me when I realized I was the only one getting upset cause they aren't even aware of what they did wrong! I do not look at other drivers in their cars nor do I make any hand gestures, I just
go on about my business.
Always always let it go. About 10 years ago I passed someone on a 2-lane road at night and they proceeded to tailgate me, nearly hitting me several times, for miles. I remembered something I'd read about driving to a well-lit, populated area and I drove directly to the nearest shopping center. They tailed me through it for a while and eventually lost interest when I drove in circles.
But it scared me badly. Between that and a nut who threw a huge rock at my window after I beeped at him -- it's not worth it. I see someone driving like an a-hole in my rearview mirror, coming up fast doing 90+, and I move aside. Let him cause an accident for someone else.
People these days will just as soon shoot you or stab you as look at you. NOT worth it.
"Do you let idiots go or do you go off on them?"
Depends on what State and City. In NY city you can honk and yell and it's part of the culture. If you honk and yell at someone in Phoenix in the summer it can be viewed as an attack and expect gun fire.
In Chicago I always give it to them. I own the road. Not anyone else.
In Mid-TN, I haven't had any problems, aside from rush rush hurry people driving behind my slow truck, I just say meh whatever. Maybe it's the easier lifestyle that's calmed me down.
Let them go. As my dad taught me, 99% of the people who do stupid things are in such lala land that they don't even know they did something dumb - and honking surely won't help them realize.
