I prefer a straight 6 to anything else you can get today. This is for normal everyday driving. But if you want to race, check out this place:

Clifford Performance :: Make 6 = 8

I prefer a flat 6, but that's just me.

V8's get great mileage. My Z06 with a 7L V8 got 26 on the highway, and 19-20 around town. My 370Z with it's 3.7L V6 got 25.5 highway, and 18.5 around town. But really, I don't care. My current V8 (Jeep) gets 14.5 mixed driving, and it doesn't really seem to matter much regarding how I feel about it. It slurps 89 octane, so that might be cancelling it out.

Especially when comparing 1/4 mile drag race runs to Nurburgring laps.
