So then from my scenario, you would rather have texting behind you an 80 year old woman with only sparse driving experience and whose last driving test was in 1985, than a 28 year old man who is a professional driving instructor, and who works for NASCAR and teaches safe and defensive driving? I'll take the younger, better trained and more experienced driver behind me texting every time. Of course this is an extreme and somewhat silly example, but the point is still valid. There are different skill levels of drivers. Sometimes its formal training, years of experience or age affecting response time, but they all effect the drivers ability to text and drive.
I guess I didn't make my post clear enough. I don't want anyone, any age, Nascar driver or little old lady texting while I'm on the road driving. I want them to pay attention to the road. If they want to text on a deserted road and drive into a tree that's their choice. I just don't them running into me, or any other driver on the road.
I don't text, but I will admit I have used the Google Maps App for directions. Although it really isn't any different than glancing at a map on the passenger seat.
Once in a while I'll take a call, but I can't text and drive. I don't know how people do it. The only daring multi-task activity that I've done in stupidity was try and eat a burrito that was bursting at the seams while driving.
I think this is so dangerous and it scares me when I see other driver's texting and not focusing on the road. Just really stupid behavior that I believe you can't legislate away unfortunately.
Never. I don't text, period. My phone doesn't have that capability. I once had a phone that had texting capability and it drove me crazy. After about 2 months, I stuck it in a drawer and never touched it again.
I don't yap on the phone while driving, either. It cuts off after 5 rings if I don't answer, so I let it run and cut off on its own. There is no call on earth so important it can't wait 'til I'm done driving.
No, i just play Texash hold em with my ipad while driving on a highway.
