Nissan improved the interior and finally figured out the appropriate wheelbase for the Altima, but they're not quite at Honda quality levels yet.

Hyundai has been advertising three free months of XM with the Sonata. Wow.

I vote for Hyundai. Their cars are now decent, reliable, and now most of all, have good value and style. Good job Hyundai!
I second Hyundai. Back in 1995 I had a cousin that had some sort of Hyundai, and I had a Honda. I don't know the exact model or year, but I always marveled at how "junky" her car seemed to be and it was not that old.

Last spring I rented a Hyundai Sonata for 10 days and I was really impressed. It was comfortable and just looked really good for a car in it's price range. It certainly beat the Pontiac G6 I had rented before that in build quality it seems. And I don't know the details, but I hear they have that great warranty...

As for Honda, I'll always have respect for them. But I look at their sticker prices and what they offer in terms of design and features and it's always like "blah" (unless you are willing to pay more for upgrades).

I would say Ford and GM.
Both have great looking cars and some are at the top in reliablity according to Consumer Reports.

How about VW? They have certainly improved over the last 5 years, especially with their work on the Jetta series. Although I still think it looks like the Corolla, the reliability has improved. They are still safe, fun cars to drive around in.
