The Hellcat. Too much power with no control. I'd rather have a finely balanced Porsche with half the horsepower.

Totally different purpose in the two cars.

Hellcat - fast in a straight line

Poor drives, make losers. I laugh at people racing hellcats at the dragstrip and still having the vehicle financed.

People do know that insurance companies void coverage at the drag strip right?

If you can launch it properly. If what I was looking for a fast straight line 1/4 mile car, why not go with a GT-R?

because they cost nearly twice as much new vs new? Also, maintenance will not even be in the same ballpark I'd bet.

I just don't see why anyone who's looking for a fast straight line 1/4 mile car would look at a Hellcat. Sure its a beastly car that would appeal to those who just want brute untamable HP. I just feel there are much better options out there for those seeking a quick car off the line.

If you want a fast off the line car, then you need AWD and Turbo.

Back in the day we just used traction bars, wide wheels and very soft sticky M&H Racemaster tires. Auto tranny with a high slip torque converter helped.

Check the old magazines for the setup on a Hemi Dart for ideas.

No, you don't. At least not 0-60 or 1/4 mile times.. Unless you only care about it's like.. 0-20 time lol.. Find a car that does 0-60 as fast as the Hellcat or GT500 for me, in their price range ($60,000 new).. I'll save you the hassle, you can't. Heck, even the new Z06 does 0-60 in what, 2.8 seconds? Find an AWD Turbo car that's faster than the Z06, and cheaper.. The only thing close is, as mentioned, the GTR, but the GTR is around $130k new while the Z06 is about 80k-90k new (without options). You can't find a car that's cheaper (new) than the hellcat that's cheaper, period (and I don't care for dodge at all).. It was the same when the 2013 GT500 came out.

The z06 is even faster than the hellcat in 0-60 by quite a lot. Like 2.8 vs 3.6...

Even the top performing AWD cars in the lower price ranges (STI, EVO) are still slower than their RWD V8 counterparts (Mustang GT, Camaro SS) at least in the 1/4, maybe not 0-60...

horsepower/torque + prestige (to some).

Personally I am a classic MOPAR lover/owner.

I'll tell you what is cool. I high performance musclecar car driving slowly down the street/parking lot. That is much cooler (to me) than some loser trying to make up for a "small package" (as my wife would say), by driving like an idiot..
