I got a full ride scholarship and I'm commuting from home so I thought I would treat myself to a new car because I absolutely hate what I'm driving now. Budget is 20-25k and the absolute most important requirement is spaciousness. I'm not very tall (5'11), but driving in the Ford fiesta that I have now is an absolute painful affair. I've been looking at the Mazda cx5 and the Toyota Prius. Does anyone else have any other recommendations for a good car with good legroom?

Why not live within walking distance from the school and not have a car?

Driving sucks. A shiny new car doesn't do anything to fix the jerk faces around you.

Check out a Honda FIT. Very well rated. Great mileage, resale value and very safe.

OP said spacious.
He may as well keep his Fiesta, since he could cram himself into it just as well as a Fit.

Have you sat in a new FIT? I am 6'1" and can sit comfortably in rear seat even with the front seat all the way back! If you actually take time to look you may be as impressed by this car as I was!

Definitely agree, but I have my reasons for living at home the first year. 2nd and 3rd year I will definitely be living closer to campus. I only live 15 minutes away driving so not a big deal to begin with.

My brother has a Fit. It is not spacious.

If you're interested in a Prius, check out a Ford C-Max. They are very roomy.
I've driven both and liked the Ford better. More power, more space, still great on gas.
But don't look at a new one. Lightly used ones are pretty cheap.
