We are AMERICAN expats currently living in the Netherlands. I am seriously considering buying a Volvo SUVs when we move back the states (not for another year or so). I am really interested in the overseas delivery option they have. I haven't been to a Volvo dealership here to discuss this with them...just thought I would here if anyone knew.
As an expat, can I talk to a dealership here, order the car, then go pick it up and drop it off at the port before we move back to the states? I guess another option would be to go to a dealership whenever we are back in the states house hunting for the move back and ordering it then. But the round trip airfare tickets would be from the Netherlands, not America.
My husband will also be needing a car, and he likes Volvo as well. Unless he goes for a tesla.
You should work with a dealer in the Netherlands as IIRC, expat sales are even less expensive than tourist sales. Working with a US based dealer may cost you more.
Thousands do overseas delivery every year and love it. Good luck.
