Doesn't it seem like Honda's are more powerful and faster than Toyota vehicles in the same class? Civic vs Corolla, Accord vs Camry, CR-V vs RAV4 etc.

It's not just the speed. The Honda vehicles generally have better driving dynamics (i.e. feel) than any Toyota vehicle compared against.

I would rather carry groceries in a ball cap, than a baseball glove.

Hondas are also lower, noisier, and less reliable than Toyotas.

Maybe today. That hasn't been the case historically.

Of course, as a current 94 Accord EX owner I have a bias, but I've owned two of each (1980 Celica LB, 1986.5 Supra, 1986 Accord LX, and 1994 Accord EX), and the Hondas were better cars in my case.

Traditionally, this is true, although a matter of opinion. Honda's have a double wishbone suspension and you get better feel for the road and better handling response. Toyota's have a strut with miles of travel.

Some people like the smooth quietness of the Toyota.

Some people like the responsiveness of the Honda, and don't mind the noise and bounce transmitted to the passenger cabin.

I don't think there is a gap in reliability, both are as good as it gets, along with Subaru. I've owned 4 Toyota's and my wife purchased a 2014 Honda Civic last winter, she first test drove a Corolla. I would certainly consider Toyota again but I do really like my wife's Civic. I was not aware the suspension was different but that makes sense as it does have a sportier feel and is just a great overall car.

Honda moved on from the double wishbone...Toyota's nowadays are a little more reliable...Honda's are still sportier while Toyota's are still a little smoother
