I drove my friends V8 powered car and even during normal driving it excerts a level of g-force that pushes you right into your seat.

centripetal acceleration a = v^2/r. Does not depend on what car you drive, as long as you drive at a normal speed around normal turns.

Starting and stopping....well how heavy is your foot?

I'm talking about horizontal g-force from acceleration, not the one from taking fast corners.

Which I thought was related to the rate of acceleration, but even if you aren't accelerating quick on v8 it still puts you back into your seat.

Naw.
Either the car is geared crudely or y'all can't drive it.

I have owned V8s since I was 16.
Stick shift and auto.
I can make you get shoved back in your seat.
But I can also move smoothly forward without any discomfort or 'shoving.'

My Mustang does. Heck, my '72 Catalina did when I put that Quadrajunk 4 barrel on it.

Sounds like gearing to me.

I have driven cars with far less engine than a V8, and they shove you back when you accelerate due to gearing intended for jack rabbit starts.

On the opposite end, I have driven 400+ HP V8's which are an absolutely a pleasure driven easily around town without feeling like it is on the verge of liftoff at every poke of the gas pedal... but of course can easily lift off when you call for it!

My current car, although only 300 HP. falls into that latter category. Perfectly docile in traffic, and gives a decent shove when I get on it.

Any operating car will "push you into the back of the seat" at any rate of acceleration. Car accelerates, you get accelerated primarily by your point of contact which is the seat. The type of car only matters in respect to how fast the car can accelerate. So normal driving just depends on what is normal for you. If you normal do 0-60 in 20 seconds, which is probably about what I normally do, a Bugatti Veyron won't push me back into the seat anymore than my car does in normal driving. If you find a V8 pushes you back in your seat during normal acceleration and your not V8 does not, it's just because you changed your driving style and accelerate much more rapidly than you normally did in your not V8.

My Jeep with the Hemi will do it. Lay into it and you're back in the seat. Go easier and it's an effortless acceleration.

My 22 year old, stock, 6 cylinder Toyota, will take me 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. That’s fast enough for me.
