One thing I've wanted to do but never have was custom order a new car from the factory.
I have......not worth the wait!
1995 Silverado (5 month wait, GM had a transmission shortage due to SUV popularity). Truck was great.
2002 M3- ordered the new 2001 at the time, car didn't get built until October making it a 2002 model. I didn't like the car that much, had I driven one I wouldn't have bought it.
2003 E500 (new model that year). Car was a lemon, technology wasn't sorted yet. Loved the car but got squeezed on the price. In the end it worked out as I got most of my money back when it got lemon lawed.
Ordered a 2003 Mini Cooper S.....didn't buy it when it came it though I should have. Wife hated it. Got my $500 deposit back no problem.
I'd love to order a European delivery car.....A8/S Class or a 911 variant.
I normally buy CPO cars, but there's been a couple that I purchased new for various reasons.
1995 BMW M3 Lightweight (Yes, a real factory lightweight.) Bought it for racing only, but became frustrated with it as it couldn't keep up with contemporary 911's around a track, just not enough power since the engine we got here in the states was only 240hp. Wish I would have held onto it though, as it's become very collectible.
2004 Porsche 911 "40th Anniversary". I bought this one primarily as an investment, as my father owns several Porsches that have become highly collectible, but this one just didn't pan out, being a 996 and water cooled has depressed values for nearly all variants in the 996 line, only exceptions seem to be the GT2 and GT3.
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Daughter's car, wanted a new one so she wouldn't have to worry about any maintenance issues or previous owner problems.
1964 Chevy Malibu SS
1968 Plymouth Fury
1972 Plymouth Cuda 340
1988 Chevy Nova ( a twin of the Toyota Corolla )
1997 Mercury Tracer
1999 Mercury Tracer
2007 Toyota Camry
I paid $2,800 for my first one and $18,200 for my last one .........43 years later
Everything prior to that was a CPO just off a 2 or 3 year lease. As much as I'm a CPO fan, the deal on the new Q7 was way too good to pass up and checked all the feature boxes we wanted.

I did. A brand new Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9 in flame red. An absolute doll. Loved it, to the last day when my son totaled it. What is cool about a custom ordered car is that they put your name in big bold letters on the window sticker. I am going to look for it once I go home.
