I have never needed a tow for a flat tire. I always have a spare and know how to use a jack.
Not worth my time.
The guy is there faster than I could change it, the car needs a new tire anyway and the tow costs me nothing.
And it seems like the weather sucks almost every time I get one.
My wife's car doesn't even have a spare. It's a diesel and there's a DEF tank in the tire well.
AAA is worth its cost and then some. I've used the towing and flat tire services many times over the years. With the discounts you get at hotels, movie theatres, sporting events, museums, etc. the AAA membership can pay for itself each year even if you never use roadside services.
Also AAA is favored by tow companies. If they get two calls, one from AAA and one from another. they will service the AAA customer first.
AAA is especially useful on a cold winter day when you need to change a tire but the lug nuts are frozen and you can't get them off. Or if your battery dies and you can't crank the starter, do you always have a friend available to give you a jump start?
I have use the Geico roadside assistance many times in the past. The service provided has always been great. They happily towed me to whichever garage I asked to go to and didn't fuss much about distance. When my car broke down the last time and my mechanic who just happened to be with me decided to use his AAA membership they limited the distance to three miles and then I ended up charging another $70 to my credit card to pay for the remaining 12 miles.
If you go with AAA don't go with the basic package.

Yeah i have no problem changing flat tires i'm not lazy or weak like a lot of people these days...
I have a 20 ton bottle jack i carry along with so many other small spare parts. I carry a tool box and plenty of small parts where i can fix i'd say 75% of any problems that happen on the side of the road. The only reason i need AAA is strictly for towing.
I have Premuim plus RV and motorcycle. I had tires changed n trailers, had a RV towed free and had my personal truck taken to my mechanic which was 38 miles away. I tried a few different "tow clubs" but I always kept AAA. I dropped everyone else. Nothing beats AAA. Except if you have a commercial truck. They dont tow commercial

Try doing it on a 1 ton dually. The inner tire. I pay for the service so I use it.
