Nope.

I know several people who are committed to Japanese vehicles for the sole purpose of not having to constantly fix them after say 60-80k miles. In my experience Japanese vehicles have withstood the test of time. As a matter of fact, my wife and I are looking to replace our old 2003 Honda Pilot with a new Toyota Sequoia. We plan on doing so mid 2017. I am excited as my family has owned Toyotas since the 80's and they have NEVER had the problems that other family members had with their domestic vehicles.

So, in closing, I would pay the added cost of imported vehicles(except Volkswagen), mainly because the math is there to prove it is still cheaper than costly repairs to domestic vehicles later.

Yup. If the VIN starts with a "J", the vehicle is manufactured in Japan.

I don't have to be forced to buy American. They make plenty of very nice cars.
And I've owned cars made about everywhere. It's not like I haven't been exposed to the competition.

I don't know about Isuzus or Mitsus, but the reason I went with a used Nissan this time, was because my mechanic said the old Nissan pickups were just as good as Toyotas, but they're cheaper. He had one, and sold it when it had around 300K on it, and he said it's still running around town and now has about 400K on it and it's still on the road. I'm planning on keeping mine forever. The little compact pickups are just the right size, to me.

They will raise the prices, people will buy less and then they will lower the prices.

The whole lie of a car being produced in Mexico or Canada will pass savings to us, has only resulted in an average transaction price of $30k for many cars now, so lower production cost only make more money for the manufacturers and the consumer still pays more.

Americans made cars are not reliable for the most part.

Do you think that Americans will finally buy American made cars?

ALSO:

This is very intriguing to me,because most cars made by Toyota are actually made in plants in the USA.
Also,GM makes some parts of their cars in Mexico.
The idea is to have American companies build more cars in the US. In the case of Honda, Toyota, and the rest, these companies already produce automobiles in the US. If any tariffs, it would apply to automobiles being imported, to to US-built automobiles.

Apple, Ford, and I imagine more US companies, will add to the job market in the US.

Sorry about an error above. Instead of ...being imported, to to US-built automobiles.
What I meant to write was, "...being imported to the US, not to US-built automobiles."
