I really haven't stayed current on what's new in the industry over the last few years. Does anyone make a "mid-size" Crossover or true SUV (aka body on frame) with a diesel engine and all-wheel drive? Oh, and a "reasonable" price, say in the $30k range (not some "exotic). I think Chevy has a diesel Colorado, do they offer it in the Trailblazer (if they even still make that)? There has been talk of a new Nissan Frontier with a diesel, will it go in the next-gen Xterra? CR-5 diesel?
Chevy no longer makes the Trailblazer so the only choice is the crew cab Colorado or a used Grand Cherokee
BTW the regular Jeep Cherokee does NOT have a diesel

body on frame.....nope
30K new.............nope
VW was the king of diesel in the USA offering about every model in diesel trim and you can see how that worked out for them. Diesel simply doesn't work (if you follow the rules) and with cheap gas the math doesn't support running one. That being said, I have bought 3 new diesels from 2003-2007 but currently don't own one.

New diesel SUVs .... under $30k ..... not in USA. probably ever. Or until CARB dies.
A friend bought a near new, used BMW CUV (?) diesel for under $30,000 w/ under 50k miles. He also has a 325 (or 328) sedan w/ diesel Loves them both
'Nuther friend bought a Mercedes diesel CUV (?) small for SUV... similar price.
Both in the Portland,OR market where soft skinned ex-diesel owners cannot get rid of their 'child-killers' and cozy up to a Prius fast enough.
Check TX for used diesel SUV's. I find pretty favorable prices on used stock there.
Neighbor's have the VW and Porsche diesel SUV's, but they are careful not to drive them to Portland. (Likely vandalism / spray painting from the greenies),
I believe Mazda is bringing over their CX-9 in diesel form. If true, that's your best bet. We test drove one; was an incredible car that we preferred to the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Lexus RX. We ended up deciding to wait until later this year, or we would have purchased it that day.

Doesn't work?
Chevy, BMW, Jaguar, GM, Ford, Dodge....they all have diesels in the US....the appear to be selling them just fine.
