There's the Ford vs. Chevy truck debate about which is better. I guess this is mostly down south. Anyway why hasn't Dodge been a part of this debate?

When I bought my truck last year I only checked out Chevy and Ford. Dodge/Ram is just a piece of crap, so I don't even consider it.

Nobody wants a Fiat truck and they are floundering on the brink of going out of business.

They unfortunately have the best engine in the worst truck. And they make them in Mexico which is annoying. The older 1st gen Rams with the Cummins motors are great trucks though.

Now it's a Fiat truck. In the past it wasn't.

The Ford vs. Chevy debate goes back a ways. I don't know how far back in time it goes, though.

Dodge and now Ram has only become relevant in the past 25 years or so, so there isn't a lot of "My daddy had...and his daddy had a...." going on to really etch in that hard core brand loyalty.

Plus a lot of them are ex Ford and GM owners that weren't very loyal or were hacked off by a bad experience.

Bottom line there are more fans of the other two who have been at it for a lot longer time being arch rivals.

I hear just empty accusations about Dodge here without personal experience of the truck. When I go around observing trucks, I have noticed Fords first, Dodges second, and Chevys third. I admire some trucks for their towing capability, but I still prefer my minivan to tow my cargo trailer. Because I can camp and sleep in my minivan easily, whereas in a truck that's hard to do!

In light and medium duty commercial use I'd say the Rams are probably the most common by a hair though. They have a little bit more solid reputation among guys who pull heavy and run big miles as the truck that stays on the road a little better. Ford had a lot of problems with their International engines and GM had their share too for awhile. The Cummins motor has always been seen as the best one for serious commercial use. Any of them will putt around town, mall crawl, and make smoke and noise just fine though if they're tuned and fixed right. The Ford 6.7 seems like a good engine though too. It has been on the road long enough.
