So i have a 2015 Nissan Sentra, 48,000 miles. The problem i just noticed this week is that when i am driving on a highway and at around 70 mph, i cannot accelerate any further, the RPMs on the dial on the dashboard keep going back and forth between 2,000 and 3,000 RPMS, and only once i lower my speed a little does this stop and the car is fine. This is especially troubling when driving uphill on the higheay at this rate of speed . Anyone know what this problem could be ? There is nomcheck engine light coming on or any other sign telling me there is an issue. TIA
Try getting the CVT fluid changed. I agree with the other posters - it could be a CVT issue or a CVT sensor related issue putting the car into limp mode. Those Jatco units are not very good and Nissan's had ongoing issues with them. As I suggested, though, a quick and cheap item to check off would be the fluid.
Problems driving at higher speed with no other symptoms tend to be fuel delivery issues. My guess would be bad fuel and/or a bad fuel filter but that's just a guess without knowing more. If you're under warranty, I'd get it checked out that way.
Not enough info to be sure, but this would have been my first guess. Possibly a partially clogged fuel filter that won't allow additional fuel above the speed range that the OP is reporting.

If your car has a manual transmission that could be normal. Versas with a stick have high highway speed rpms. Welcome to C-D!

3000 RPM or higher at 75mph is pretty standard for normally aspirated 4cyl and 6cyl motors.
This is your problem: Nissan CVT transmissions are junk, well CVT transmissions in general are junk but Nissan's are well known for having tons of issues and going out early.
I had a 2015 Sentra mine did the same thing it’s normal. I knew it wouldn’t take long for someone to bring up the cvt especially from someone who never had one.
