Vw and the no w8 in the US thing, why are we missing out?

As in the phaentom and passat wagon, the W8 seems like a quality ride with good power. It was bad timing with the gas prices at the time, but I would like to get a newer model.

From what i have read, a bently build with VW badges, the phaentom was a smooth ride. I see they are still being produced, but not for US market. Can get a used model for a good price.

Better than the A8, the passet wagon with awd is a mean sleeper. There is a W10 model as well, but not over here. Too bad.

EPA CAFE standards are hard to comply for passenger cars or pay fines. Can VW afford the fines per car and still make a profit?

For premium cars VW could take the fine and pass it on to the consumers but it has to be a certain price point.

VW Phaeton is not produced anymore, from this year on there will be a new VW Arteon. This will have common TSI and TDI engines but certainly no W8.

The Passat is also not produced with a V8 anymore as far as I know. Unlike the US model, the European passat model does not even has a V6. Only turbo-charged I4....

the feds allow a certain number of cars to be sold in the US that do not meet emission standards, something like 7500 per year, or fuel economy standards. that does however limit what can be sold here rather severely, since that 7500 is a cumulative total across the entire production run for the US marketplace.

Passat never came with a W10 even in Europe and the W8 was sold here in sedan and wagon form for a few years in the early 2000s i had a sedan with the W8 and AWD

Many cars don't get sent to some markets. VW doesn't bring the Golf convertible to the US. Chrysler sold diesel PT Cruisers in Europe but only gas ones here.
