Northern California to Vermont. And back. Several times. This was late 1970s. Had a 1976 Plymouth Arrow 4 on the floor. No A/C. AM radio only. I was much younger then.

Now that's a trek!

Friend of mine in the military made the trip from Alaska to NYC in his Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ. Forget how long he said it took him.

In our latest car, just to California/Nevada (Lake Tahoe) and back, about 2,000 miles. Back in 1971, with a 1964 Buick Skylark Wagon I spent the summer on a road trip to 44 states, total about 18,000 miles. Along the way, I had to pay for
a new rear universal joint, replacement turn signal switch, and 3 tires that blew out.

In one go, with no stopping or sleeping, 'cause at best that's a 3 day trip.
