Crosstrek shares the same new global platform with Impreza, but the new 2018 crossover will attract more buyers in the 25 to 29 age group than any of their other all-wheel-drive vehicles. Subaru Corporation knows their customers better than any other automaker, and it’s why they will target a specific demographic with the new Crosstrek. It will appeal to millennials and also females around the globe.
But look how adorable the Subaru Crosstrek is! Especially for a tank! I liked it in white, but the more I see the orange, the more attractive it seems.
I own a Subaru stick shift AWD Impreza, and a Pontiac Torrent AWD. Both have highly rated winter tires.
While the Subaru probably can move forward on one wheel, and the Pontiac’s AWD only comes on when the front wheels slip for more than 1/4 turn, the only time I can get the Pontiac to actually turn on AWD is when I’m on glaze ice and I gun the engine, and then its only on for a second.
Get four really highly rated winter tires and you may never know that you don’t have AWD. I have a set of General Altimax’s and a set of Nitto NT-2. Neither have studs, although the nitto’s are formulated with ground up walnut shells.

I have great tires -- Nokian Nordman. The issue is really when my driveway is blocked with a ridge of snow from the city plower's pushes down the street. I can't tank through that in a Mazda 6. The other advantages of AWD are just bonus. My main goal is to get out of my driveway when there are piles of snow remaining.
PS. Please don't tell me to shovel. That's not an option.
PPS. What do you mean "While the Subaru probably can move forward on one wheel"?

Haha!! I've enjoyed my Mazda 6 for a decade and, yeah, if it weren't for this move to parking outdoors with only a partially clear path out of my driveway, I'd be likely to get another... or one like it. But I need a little tank. Or a semi!
