Uber

Why own a car that sits and depreciates 97% of the time? Buy the ride, not the car.

Do the math: 365 days per year, 24 hours per day = 8760 hours available.

Drive 12K miles per year at an average speed of 50 mph = 240 hours of use. That's a 2.7% utilization.

well, they are not really Trends (which implies new), because the ones i like are actually standards now.
1. heated seats and steering wheel.
2. independent climate control for the rear seats.
3. ABS.
4. cruise control.
5. remote start.

Almost any car you buy today is going to work almost all of the time and do it for a long time.

Power + Tires + Traction Control + Automatic Transmission technology = Winning

It’s not a crazy feat for a car to be < 3.5 sec 0-60 and < 4.4 sec 5-60... I still prefer a solid manual tranny over an automatic (well because I’m a man) any day but autos are crazy for performance.

Backup camera hands down the best invention for those of us who parallel park often. Push button start, hybrid cars, ac, and fuel efficiency monitors.

Seriously people have gotten spoiled with the reliability of new cars that we never appreciate it. Most cars can easily make it to 200k with no major problems.

The surveys have run out of real problems and have moved on to nitpicking infotainment systems in an effort to stay relevant.

The other thing they do is "rank" vehicles based on tiny fractions of a defect.
The reality is that everyone except for a few outliers fall within a narrow range.
Miniscule differences is why you see these big moves up and down the rankings from year to year.
It doesn't take much to make a move in either direction.

And yet some folks (some who can ill afford to) trade them in long before they need to be with depressing regularity for the next shiny thing.

It's hard to go 3 years with one car. Especially when you see the new version with 20 extra hp, and 1 more mpg riding around everywhere. lol
