Depending on age, vehicle, residency location - window coverage can be quite inexpensive.

If one does not ask insurance agent or insurance company - will never know.

Cost is not a huge deal... and as I said vision is excellent most of the time and just annoying on rare occasions.

I am only looking for better cleaning tips. Thanks.

I do a lot of highway driving in the 70-80mph range, and between the grit and rocks kicked up, plus the winter salt, sand and occasional rocks that are being applied in winter and kicked up and all of which I am flying through, the windshield gets pitted, chipped and small cracks. I replace the windshield when it looks bad. It's a lot nicer to drive the car that way, and safer too, especially in that low angle light around sundown and sunup.

Did wonders on water spots on my windshield.
I use non-abrasive comet which is basically the same product. I learned about it years ago and clean mine with it two or three times a year. It works on chrome bumpers as well if you happen to have them on a truck or whatever. It will remove all the bugs, road grease and grime and water spots. The windshield will be clean as new. However, it will not do anything about the small rock/sand pits that cover a windshield over years of driving. If you want it clean, clean it with comet or something similar. If you want the small pits gone, have a new windshield put in.

Water spots are mostly dried mineral deposits. I’ve never tried it, but it seems like some vinegar water and a magic eraser might work (just keep the vinegar off of the paint).

Yes, the glass is only $188, but there are other things I want to buy for this particular - and for my other cars first.

Try that Eastwood polishing kit, I don't think you will get any satisfactory results using home-made or ersatz equipment and materials. About $75 IIRC.

From posting with you here, I think you have the experience and craftsmanship chops to pull this off, using that kit.

I agree with another poster - clay bar. I used it on my windshield than used invisible glass cleaner and the water spots are gone.
