My 2001 Subaru Forester is gone....unless I want to put another 1K in her or a new engine. And as much as we LOVE this car I think it’s that time to let her go. she got 350K on her and I paid 1,800 had 150ish K when we got her I don’t see putting another grand in her at his point.
So now I’m deciding on what to replace her with another Subaru or Mazda not buying new . Love both makes miss my old Mazda Protege so leaning toward getting another one, blew my chance of getting a Protege 5.
Guy sold it the day before I went down to look at it. Not really looking for advice just wasn’t ready to her her go so soon.
I consider myself a car enthusiast, but they are just pieces of metal. I have no problem getting rid of one, especially when I already have my eye on another one to replace it with.
I understand having good memories attached to them, but the memories will always be there whether the car itself is or not.
That was a nice car. Ford Europe surely could make something interesting.
Think of how much better it might have done with a less... peculiar brand name. Too close to 'merkin' for my taste... murky, 'Murrican, Murray; no really good associations.
Have owned E46 M3, E90 M3, and there's currently a GT350 in my garage. Yet, I miss my STI hatchback (3G) that I just traded in a month ago. It had just over 100K and was my beater for 10 years. But I loved that car. Hopefully they will bring back the hatch in 2021.
I miss my 1987 Audi coupe quattro the most, but I have now replaced it with an Audi TT RS
Also fond memories of an Opel Manta GTE and a plain old Vauxhall Cavalier that had an unusually powerful engine for a 1.6 8v, never found out why.
If I loved a car and knew its history, assuming I'd kept up routine maintenance, $1K wouldn't be too much to put in her. Especially considering the hidden potential cost of a used car.
But you know her. Maybe you're expecting bearing or xmsn or a/c failure. Maybe she's a rust bucket.
Hopefully you'll find one you love as much.
I've always been curious: why do people assign the female gender to a car??
