At 200,000 miles, do you take your car to the shop for a tune up? My car is nearly approaching 200,000 miles so I was wondering if I should take my car to the shop for a tune up? Thank you!

What does your manual specify or suggest?
Our last car, a 1987 Toyota Van lasted for 387K miles.
I followed the schedule up to the list which stopped at around your mileage, I think.
So I just repeated the schedule from the last 100K miles.
I did all the simple stuff but let a reputable independent do all the heavy stuff.
It gave up finally and it was too expensive to repair.

If the owner's manual service schedule calls for a tuneup at 100,000, then you should do it again at 200,000.

I used to have the timing belt changed , but now I have a chain. My car goes to the shop every month for an oil change and check-up. I'm near 200,000 and I am due for new coolant. I don't think modern cars really need a tune-up. I had my plugs replaced at 150,000 miles even though they were working fine. Does that count as a tune-up?

Changing plugs is pretty much the modern tune-up, and for most vehicles, is recommended at 100,000 miles whether they need it or not. I remember the days of my first 10-12 cars and a few classics since, where a tune-up was every 10,000 miles and most of it is no longer needed with electronic ignition and fuel injection:
New Plugs, points, distributor cap, rotor, condenser, air filter, fuel filter, reset timing, adjust air/fuel mixture and idle speed on carburetor.

Once a month oil change? How many miles do you put on your vehicle every month?
I would put on new plugs, Coils, serpentine belt if needed and another flush of coolant and transmission fluid, maybe even power steering fluids too.
And then just prepare for all the random things to break or start wearing out at that mileage, like tie-rods, ball joints, struts, fuel pumps, and random sensors.
200-290K for me was very tedious, but still way cheaper than buying a new car.
