Will this guys auto insurance pay for the damage's?

A 2005 BMW 5-series parked in the way of firefighters at a hydrant got its windows smashed out so they could run their giant high-pressure hose right through the car.

The owner told the New York Post he's stressed, but, well, he did leave his car in front of a hydrant for four days.

They do this all the time. And the vehicle always gets filled by a 'leak' I recall a photo in the chi trib years back in the winter. Solid block of ice with ice leaking out all over. They could have easily gone around or ver .... but that doesn't send the same message to not park in hydrant zones.

I've seen at least 8-10 stories like this in the past. I think they must teach this maneuver in firefighting school.

Video, Calif. fire dept. defends viral photo of hose through car window

Several people commented to ask why the firefighters couldn't have simply gone over or under the car

the firefighters did everything right ... the police should additionally fine the driver for obstructing the work of the firefighters ...

I remember watching a movie about fire fighters, it might have been Backdraft, that showed them breaking out the windows of a car blocking a hydrant. It may have even been a BMW. The entitlement mentality exists in fictional movie characters (i.e. whoever owned the illegally parked car) as well as in real life.

Go around? Depending on how close the vehicle is to the hydrant you would have to put a kink in the hose to get it to bend like that.

Who is entitled here? The law is somewhat clear about not parking infront of hydrants.
