What is the car you really want to get now or soon thats within your budget?

My top of the list car I want now is a Porsche 997.2 or newer. But I don’t think it’s worth the expense.

But realistically I would love to get into light off roading with kids. So a 2012-2018 Lexus LX570 would be awesome all around truck, with bigger tires. It’s a very comfortable truck and would be great on road trips and then some off roading. For us, it would be 2-3 hour drive till we hit any sort of off-roading trails. NYC based.
Also I am dying for a manual car preferably with no top. So other Miata or a mustang GT 2014 ne newer with that sweet 5.0.

ok this is scary.

I, me, mr automotive who has owned how many cars? actually wants NO car or truck at present.

Does that mean I wont get one if $$ and oppty presents itself? no, Id get it. But I covet zero at present, Im actually content.

Ok, I better schedule to get into the doc...

now, if you had asked 'form of transpo', I REALLY REALLY want a 2023/2024 Triumph T120 Bonnie....when the temps turn north, Im gonna test drive one. At $13K MRSP, its a LOT for a regular non-HD bike, but doable....

I assume w=2, neuron misfire? lol

SPEAKING of convertible....just after the plague, in 21, I sold my car - lovely ^RED Caddy CTS hotrod. Fastest damn car I ever owned, triple digits a stab away, but by sept of that year, I had put 700 miles on it that year and was paying how much a month? so we ditched it (for $600 less than what I paid for it a couple years earlier!) and got a new camper - we are old, we are into that.

But realizing that all things must pass, I saw a 92 Lebaron J body vert in a front yard that ran drove, had all 4 gears, cruise worked and the top went up and down. $1000 later it was mine, about $2000 later it was put together including an engine rebuild. These are good $$'s as anything in this area CAPABLE of being inspected and not needing anything other than tires is over $5k at present

Couple years later the teen just turned 16 and here I have this ready to go car...I just need him to be able to travel residential roads to get himself to and from the 90-some odd band practices he has each week...and work. He likes to work. Have scratch. This car, nay ANY small car in the age of CUVs and SUVs for all is not the best solution...and I am willing to sell the J-vert to any of the nutjobs in the Lebaron owners group website, but still, $5K and more gets you 150K miles and more in a rusty body/frame needing tires brakes shocks and the check engine light is on 'but its probably a $30 sensor' they all say.....The good lord is telling me to not force it, be patient, it will come, it always does

Same here. I have way too many cars/trucks/motorcycles and love every single on of them. I was telling a friend the other the other day that I probably wouldn't buy a new car even if I won the lottery.

My current fleet cost me around $400K. An acquaintance, upon viewing this mass of vehicles, noted that I could easily purchase a new Lamborghini Hurican and have plenty of money left over. I told her that I'd get bored with the Lambo pretty quickly, which is why I have so many modes of transportation - I don't drive/ride any one of them enough to become bored.

Same one since 1972: first series E-Type Jaguar. Could be drop-head or fixed-head.

Oh, I see you said "within budget" - well, that lets me out.

I'm currently driving a 2011 BMW e93 M3 convertible now. Previous car was a 2002 BMW e46 convertible. The one before that was a 1998 BMW e36 M3 sedan. Notice a pattern? All of them with manual transmissions. All of them bought used, so I'm kinda in the mood for a new car. This would be my first new car since 1991.

I'd love a Porsche 911, but I'm getting to the age (60+) where I am tired of going through contortions to get in and out of low-slung coupes with huge doors. I want something with a higher H-point and wider-opening doors.

I like the look of the newly refreshed 2024 Kia Sorento, but pricing it out on the Kia website gets me close to $50K, which seems a lot for a Kia. I'm also looking at the new Honda CR-V, which could probably be had for at least $5K cheaper.

Funny how you talk about cars within the budget that we want.

Everything is within MY budget, but everything is outside of the "bosses" budget.
If we have the money, i consider it within budget. Regardless of the money, she considers it unneeded expense.

I've tried the argument that there is a perfectly good natural stream on the property for washing clothes and plenty of trees to string up clothes lines for drying, therefore the washer and dryer are "unneeded expenses".

I've been through many cars in my time, but lately the Miata RF just tickles my want urge. I'd get it in a heartbeat BUT, refer back to earlier comments.
