Having been the guy sitting at the desk working the CAD system I can tell you that if a Design Engineer is told to do something in a given way they will do it. Or hit the street and look for a new job. If you think differently you will someday get a surprise when you tell your boss no.

In the 22 years I worked for a company that employed engineers I watched a goodly number go out the door over arguments about what should be done and what will be done. It was always over money, either at the front end or the back end, but always about money.

That attitude is one of the reasons I got out of that line of work and started working on computers. My boss now lets me do what I want, when I want, and we never have any disagreements.

That boss would be me.

Judging from ones use of vacabulary and lack of constructive sentencing, i say you did miss much of college.

And for one to go into finner details of what engineering is about would just be, well, uncomprehendable. Nothing personal :P
I always enjoy this type of crap. You are all over this B guy and then you dump this on us. What exactly is a finner detail? Something left over from car design in the fifties? Before slamming someone over how they write when posting in a forum (it's a forum, not a college English course) learn how to spell vacabulary (vocabulary) and figure out that uncomprehendable is not a freakin' word! It's uncomprehensible. Oh, and the stand alone i is an I.

During what part of your college courses did you stay awake?

uncomprehendable - Definitions from Dictionary.com

Nothing personal :P

And as you so eloquently put it: ..:d :d :d

Thank you for making my point, even if it was a rather smartassy way to do it.

Are you one of those always know everything people they talked about on a different thread?

Do you need help with your girlfriend too?
I posted it already.I'm a garbage man for allied waste in chicagoland. The lack of skills come from the design engineering that we have to deal with.Think about it for a minute. If car were design so you and i can fix them ourselves,we wouldn't need them to do it.Dealers make money from their service dept. The brand parts they used are at a mark up price. If these dealers are for the consumer, why the parts they sell cost 30% to 50% more? It's about the money IMHO.They gave me the shaft a couple of times, hopefully never again.

I know they have the emission components and electronics to deal with now.Take a look at the GM cars, pretty much the same size of cars built in the 70's.

Thanks tek-freek

The Red Cross has announced that because of all the tornadoes and floods in the Midwest that they are broke, or close to it, and are asking for money.

Perhaps you would care to send them some?

The past (recent) president of the RED CROSS was paid a salary of $500.00 a yr. Sorry, I'm not helping to pay that kind of money for a charity job. Steve

Yeah, it's charity job. That means there's no work involved.

Lets see.

To change the plugs on my now sold 95 gmc jimmy I had to remove the front wheels. Pull back the splash guards just to get at the plugs. Then the middle plug on the drivers side. I had to disconnect the steering shaft. And use a very long extension with a universal on it. Yeah, that was easy.

I changed plugs on a 626 a few weeks ago. I pulled the boots off and took the plugs out then installed new ones.

Odd, which paragraph was longer? The one describing the RWD car or the FWD car?

Odd don't you say?
