I agree... Asian car designs seem to have completely congealed into a generic form over the years. GM started to fall into that trap but are now starting to pull away. At least Volvo and Audi are not subject to such things.

Volvo and Audi sales sux. GM makes unreliable ugly cars. So that leaves most of us with Korean or Japanese cars. Only American brand sedan I like is that new Lincoln.

The modern Volvo's ain't, IMHO............

Frankly; the last Volvo that said V-O-L-V-O was the 240/260 series which was dropped in 1993. Honorable mentions to the 740/760 models.

The present Volvo's...........I see no compelling reason to buy one over a Toyota Camry/Honda Accord.

This is the culprit... a synthetic blend of two other asian cars and a german one...

So what? Like Lexus doesn't rip off other car companies?
Automotive industry is full of copycats.

Historically, I think that Lexus was always a fake luxury car, ie it was always a spitting image of many Toyotas. BMW and Mercedes could be compared to nothing until a couple years ago when Daimler-Benz started putting the same chassis in the SLK class and the Crossfire. All three of these companies are coming out with so many generic entry level luxury cars that the industry is starting to dilute its image. As Hyundai put it, the barrier to luxury cars has been "kicked in" ...
