Thanks but not into Suburbans. Big old gas sucking hogs. Worse than a p/u or Blazer. Ex gf's mom had one with a 305...thing got 11 mpg.

Again a 1/2 is really all I need.

Go for the Pick-Up, Deez!

I had an '87 Silverado 4x4 w/ 350 Fuel Injection for 18 years until I bought my SSR. Without a doubt, the finest vehicle I have ever owned. Considering the size, overall performance and dependability . . . 18 MPG highway not bad.

Damn I wish I had that truck right now!

Bummer I've considered that. Wasn't 87 the first year for fuel injection on the full size trucks? I understand it was also the last year for SFA's.

And are the 87 trucks the "69 Camaro" of 4X4 trucks due to EFI and SFA? Do they bring top dollar unlike their brothers?

Very nice truck Bummer!

I've always leaned toward the pickup myself. For MANY years, I've had a full-size 89 Chevy Silverado 2wd. It has gotten as high as 22 mpg, but normally gets about 18-19 on the road. 305, which isn't a powerhouse, but is more than adequate for what I need.

I like the full-length box. It's an easy fit when I'm hauling sheets of plywood and/or drywall. Even 10' drywall fits easily, with the tailgate down.

With the full-size standard cab pickup, it's easy to have 3 people along. 4 can cram in for a few short miles. If, for some reason, I need to haul more people than that, I'd take my wife's minivan.

My 2 cents' worth.

This is correct..sorta. First year for FI and last year for SFA in pickups.. but the blazers, suburbans, and crewcabs kept the square body styling and SFA until 91.

I think you will always find the blazer in better shape as they are harder to use as a truck. Little too tall, glass has to be lowered all the way or it breaks in the tailgate.

In many ways a 3/4 ton is better has they have bigger brakes, heavier axles, thicker frames and the 400 tranny.
You night want to consider the Suburban. You get 9 feet in the back with the rear seat folded. The blazer only has 4 feet when folded.
I had a K-10 blazer with the 400 small block and the Turbo 400 tranny... 77
