It was a beautiful pickup. I would love to find one exactly like it to restore.
There are a few on ebaymotors.com. Here is one, already restored. Very nice:

I had a '79 GM ex diesel (replaced with Olds 350 cid gas engine) 1/2 ton Pick up that I sold after about 400 k miles. I just was not using it any more. I kind of miss the old clunker. It always got us to our destinations and back.

I had an '81, but I threw in the Olds 455 with the TH400 tranny.

So tell me how fun THAT hog was to drive!

Hemmings Motor News, Vintage Truck and Old Cars Weekly are two excellent sources for parts and information. And there are plenty more publications out there, as well.

Never had any problems finding parts for any of my Chevy/GMC ranging from '46 thru '94.

Parts for older Dodge/Fargo, and "other" brands like Studebaker, International can be difficult however.

Owned a few...

Had a couple of Chevrolet El Camino's from the 60's and they were all good cars... only sold them when offered more than I thought they worth...

Most El Camino's had automatic and power steering and I had one with AC

Right now I have a 1930 Model A Truck... it's a little faster than Rance's 1927 T... I can cruise at 45 and top out around 60 mph... with a tail wind...

Parts for Chevrolets and Fords will be the easiest to obtain and old trucks have lots of room under the hood making it easy to work on...

Always wanted a roadster P/u. T model would be best...or , if I could find one affordable , a 32 V8 roadster P/U.... very rare. 39 Studeabaker p/u very car like , and great lines, also rare and pricy. Some like the Reo/ Mack jr. P/Us...I have seen them bring huge numbers at the auctions.
As a kid I owned several 40 Ford P/u trucks, chopped , hemi powered, all the hot rod stuff. Anything after 56 is not very exciting actually.

As long as you have a chassis, you can basically build a truck with this catalog. They have every bolt, screw, all body parts, all interior parts, etc.

Truck Parts and Truck Accessories for Chevy, GMC, Ford and Dodge Trucks from LMCTruck.com

I have had great experiences with this parts warehouse. I had an '86 C10 and used this catalog everytime I needed something.

They only carry for GM, Ford's & Dodge's though.
