I've heard nowadays cops have "radar detector detectors" that can figure out if you're operating a radar detector, then they pull you over, take your radar detector and write you a ticket anyways.
Any truth to this?
They can't take your radar detector unless it's illegal to have one, which is the case in Virginia and one other state (Minnesota maybe?) and for all commercial vehicles anywhere.
Radar Detectors are the work of the DEVIL! If I were President of the United States, I would force all states to ban them.
Assuming for the moment this isn't a sarcastic or troll post... my response is simply this: if law enforcement wants to monitor the general public with no individualized suspicion of wrongdoing, then the public has a right to the means to know when they are being monitored in such a manner.

However, it is a proven fact that people with radar detectors are more likely to speed when the police isn't present vs. people who don't have radar detectors. Therefore, they are nothing but an excuse to break the law and should be banned nationally and globally.

It's my understanding they're illegal everywhere, just not heavily enforced. You have to think about it, they're designed to keep cops running speed traps from doing their job.
Not to mention it seems most cops have a "can do whatever I want" attitude.
