When I drive my car occasionly the transmission jerks, but not all the time. It shifts ok into Drive, Reverse, Park etc. so its jus when the car is being driven and then not all the time.
Check the transmission fluid... is it clean, and up to the proper level? Anything other than that, it is going to have to be properly diagnosed at a shop.

It sounds like you are describing a transmission that is shifting hard. There are literally dozens of sensors that tell the transmission when and how to shift, including vehicle speed, throttle position, manifold pressure, ect.
Are you getting any check engine lights? You really need to get it to a shop and haven them run the computer codes.
If there are alot of miles on it then it might be a good idea to have the transmission tuned up.
Hmmm... let me look into my crystal ball... uh oh, I seem to need a palm reading first. Make, model, fluid condition, mileage, past service, any other things not normal.... help us out here.
Some transmission codes will not set the check engine light. Do the basic checks, really just fluid level and condition. The rest is up to God, or a good tranny tech with a scan tool.

Possible engine misfire and not a transmisssion problem? What kind of vehicle is it?
My guess would be a electrical short (plug wire/cross fire/etc) more of a hesitation for a second and NOT a tranny problem since it is a occasional thing. Maybe a tune up or electrical check is due.

As a retired Mechanic of 28 yrs could go into more detail but all cars are different. It is obvious to a electrical short...I was being more specific and less general. Two things make a car run fuel and electricity. Any novice knows that...any of the two would be a guess other then the banjo housing knocking on the Newton valve which would be a major problem.
