I have to go with free speech on this one. Shame the article didn't have any pics as I'd be curious to see the truck. I'm also interested in seeing what the CV plate looks like. I wonder if VA is near FL in the different style plates offered.
interesting, and I am sure to get some flak for this, but wth...
I love the paint job and what it inferes. Too bad more in islam wouldn't speak out against the fringe that is creating so much violence.
If you read the article, there is question as to how much freedom of expression one has when concerning government documents - which a license plate is. I don't have any problem with it saying what it does.
Vanity plates should be eliminated b/c they are a distraction and might cause people to get into accidents because they are trying to figure out what they mean.
I don't think you'll be able to make much of a free speech argument on something like this.
I think it should stand because people have the inalienable right to be stupid.
A vanity plate by nature is "freedome of expression", if you eliminate one, you have eliminate them all. Liberals would scream "artistic expression", so perhaps it's time those on the opposite side play that game too.

You have to apply for a vanity plate. It's at the discretion of the VA government whether or not they grant you one.
So I don't think you're going to be able to get away with a "freedom of expression" argument.

But isn't that the same "fairness" argument being presented about marriage? You have to apply for a marriage license too.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
