Have bought several cars out of State. The dealer takes care of only his state's nuisance fees. Taxes are paid to the state the car is registered in.Dealer has nothing to do with where and when you register the car.
Not true. If you tell them where it will be registered, they can figure out the taxes and fees for you and take care of it all.

Not the dealer we dealt with in North Carolina where we bought the R8.
We're buying the V10 Spyder from the same dealer...and have already spoken to him about registering in Tx and taxes. They want nothing to do with it. Maybe it is the Dealers preference?
I'll know more in a couple of weeks.

That's just the dealer being obstinate.
Texas is a very easy state to register a car in, and all dealerships have a big book that walks them through each state's requirements.
Could very well be. But in thinking...we are buying out of our "region". They may not want to make it obvious/ call attention to the sale by registering in another state. I know, for the moment, they have our address as in N.C.

No, it doesn't make any difference. Just being jerks. Which is stupid with someone buying a car like that.
I've bought vehicles in Ohio before and had to buy a temporary Ohio tag to drive it back to Pennsylvania. They did not want anything to do with sales taxes though.
I had to pay the 6% PA sales taxe when I registered it for a PA title.
At least here in texas you pay the taes when you register it in this state. I know lots of people who bought new vehicle in louisana and paid no taxes until they registered it here.
