whoa the TU-114 or bear bomber was made to bomb north america during the cold war they still invade US and candian airspace to get us to send up F-15's amd Cf-18s
The TU-114 was purely a commercial airliner and was retired from service in 1991.
It had no military capabilities and was never referred to as the Bear.
TU-114:
Due to its wing and powerplant design, the Tu-114 was able to travel at speeds typical of modern jetliners (880 km/h). Able to accommodate 224 passengers, a more usual number in Aeroflot service was 170 provided with sleeping berths and a dining lounge. In 14 years of civilian service, the Tu-114 was noted for its very high level of safety and reliability, and carried over six million passengers before being replaced by the jet-powered Il-62.
I'd like to add the A-10 Thunderbolt II( Warthog) and the B-52 Stratofortress Bomber(B.F.F.F.).....both are iconic designs while adding new meaning to aircraft longevity with upgraded electronics. Though not the most elegant or pleasant appearing aircraft.....both have a beauty in their seeming simplicity, ruggedness and functionality.
I remember seeing an interview with a B-52 pilot...
He said when we want to kill a person we use SMART weapons...
When we want to scare the sh*t out of our enemy we send in the B-52's...
