There seems to be some concern that Emirates may let the planes go after their 12 year lease is expired, dumping dozens of the older jets on the market and effectively destroying the market for new ones. The 180 unfilled orders for the A380 can be produced in less than 6-7 years, and the plane may die.

The Airbus A350 seems to have plenty of orders

President of Mexico lands in Gander, Newfoundland Canada on his way to Europe for refueling

The President of Mexico has a Boeing 757. While that jet is perfectly capable of flying to Europe from eastern USA, it can't make it there from Mexico City. So every time he flies to and from Europe (which he did 6 times in one year) he must stop in Gander (population 11K). Being a president in a foreign country he can't just sit on the plane while it refuels, but he must get dressed, go outside and meet some official who probably just flies in from Ottawa.

So he is getting a Boeing 787 as new presidential transport. While it probably doesn't equal the POTUS's 747's in sophistication, it is a near rival. And as an added bonus, he won't have to stop in Gander to refuel.

The list prices advertised by Boeing or Airbus are pretty much worthless as no one ever pays near that. Some of the factors that go into the final negotiated price were mentioned earlier.

It's hard to know exactly what an airline ends up paying for a frame since there are so many things that that final price could or could not include, but I remember a thread on airliners.net where the general consensus by people in the industry seemed to be roughly 50% of whatever the original list price was.
