Is France that much worse than the US when it comes to flying? Why couldn't it happen to a US one too?
Have you seen or heard the transcript? The two co-pilots sound like rookies and the captain didn't sound much better. The captain never did take the controls. The three stooges had no clue what was happening with the plane OR what each other was doing. For example, one co-pilot was pulling back on his stick to climb and the other co-pilot was pushing his stick forward to descend, at the same time, for several minutes. And this was well after the pitot tubes unfroze, all gauges began working properly, and the plane was fully functional.

My understanding is that the number of flights per week had been restricted due to some sort of immigration quota, and the accident flight was one that was in excess of said restriction. Like a lot of other things, nobody got caught until there was an accident. It's not really related to the safety potential of any given flight.

Even if it was iron, a magnet would concentrate the force on a relatively small area. No magnet could be that powerful, and if it was the debris would probably break apart on retrieval potentially ruining the post crash investigation. You have to have airbags to retrieve big pieces from the ocean.

From those latest wreckage pictures, just look at the way it appears so totally shredded near the edges where it has broken apart. I think we're looking at one of the latest works of that peaceful religion called Islam.

I'll stake my reputation as an aviation accident investigator on the correctness of my opinion, if you'll do the same.
