Don't know the accuracy of the Flightaware data. The descents look a bit fast out of 9500 ft, but that's all speculative. We'll know more once the NTSB works through their investigation.
Hard to imagine, clear weather, modern plane. Bizarre following the SFO crash too.
Bird ingestion? Are birds flying at that hour?
Terrorism or sabotage?
I really hate to speculate and I know very few details on the crash at all - nothing technical for certain. As someone who works on the A300 and knows the airframe pretty well, there was a small part of me that thought the same thing when I saw the few available pictures of the debris field. Let's wait and see what information is available first because speculation can be pretty bad in an event like this.
Here we go again with this there's no greater evil than to speculate nonsense.
It's one thing for UPS or the NTSB to speculate....it's quite another for CD members to do so on this forum. There is absolutely nothing wrong with an intelligently worded discussion here on likely possibilities.
I just learned of this crash, so have no other comment at this time. But once more is known and there are facts that point in a certain direction, I will personally guarantee that no lightning strikes will befall CD members who dare to make intelligently worded speculative comments.
So which one of you guys was it that created a wiki page specifically for the crash as well as updated both the Birmigham airport page AND the Airbus a300 page mere minutes after the event?

Wasn't me. Wow, they didn't take long updating that, huh?
