Yesterday I got an e mail that my return trip with AA and BA from Amsterdam is partly cancelled. The itinerary was Amsterdam to London to chicago to Louisville. It is cancelled after London....
Should I wait for an e mail to see what they come up with, or call.
What are my rights? Like money back, or just none?
Does this happen often? I did not get insurance, because it is basically a scam. And it was a very cheap ticket, but that shouldn't matter.
I have used Expedia about 20 times, never had a problem.
Although Expedia advised you the flight was cancelled, they are only responsible for helping you find a replacement flight, not for the flight itself. Since the flight is not until January, there should be plenty of time, but, you will still need to contact them to what they are doing and advise them of your preferences.
Very odd for them to give you no explanation. That is poor customer service in my book!
Eh. Airlines reshuffle flights, planes, etc. all the time that far out for no reason other than maximizing revenue. The only time the reason matters is when the cancellation is close in enough that the flight would have been under gate control and everyone's parsing whether it falls under EU 261 rules, or other contract of carriage sections where you get different treatment and compensation depending on whether a delay was the airline's fault (mechanical issues, crew scheduling, etc.) or not the airline's fault (weather, ATC restrictions, etc.)
I know airlines cancel flights. My husband works for an airline. What's odd is giving no explanation or alternate travel arrangements to replace the cancelled one. Airlines usually offer options, because they know you still need to get home.
And what's the first rule of the travel forum? Always book airfare directly with an airline. You aren't getting any discounts using expedia or these other "discount" sites (sometimes you end up paying more) and actually making it more difficult for yourself when things like this happen.
Not true. I check extensively. From Louisville to Amsterdam for 512 dollar is a real bargain. Next lowest is over 1100 dollar.
I fly with WOW air regularly, but they do not fly out of Louisville. I drive to an airport they use, but have to park. What is plus 200 dollar for a month. And gas to get there.
My neighbour drives me to Louisville, give him 20 bucks.
Yes, I later posted it in the travel forum. Sorry if I broke rules.
