My curiosity about Wallis Simpson re-awakened after seeing the movie "The King's Speech." I often wondered where she lived in Baltimore. An article in the Sun gave me the answer: 212 E. Biddle St.

The British author and royals expert Hugo Vickers will lecture about his book, "Behind Closed Doors: The Tragic, Untold Story of the Duchess of Windsor," at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Maryland Historical Society, 201 W. Monument St. Tickets cost $35 for historical society members and $50 for nonmembers. Call 410-685-3750.

If I am in town that week, I will definitely go.

I take Biddle Street on my way home on the days that I work. There are small signs on the street light poles that identify the area as being the former home of Wallis Simpson. Nice, big rowhomes; many may have now been converted to multi-family homes, but you can tell they were once very elegant.
