Hello all!
My husband was just offered a job in Baltimore but if he takes it, we have to be there in three weeks. YIKES! We have a 9 month old child and dont know ANYONE in Maryland. Does anyone have any suggestions in terms of which neighborhoods to start looking into? We would like to live outside of the city but close enough that he wont have a horrible commute. We are looking for a very safe neighborhood that has a good school system and a town/city that has a variety of things to do. Also, does anyone know what the commute is like from the outside of the city going in? We would appreciate any advice and guidance!
Thank you SO SO much!

We're going to need a lot more info to be helpful so you might as well start with ... price range, owning/renting? Plus your nine month-old isn't about to enter the public schools so that doesn't have to be your main concern yet. Unless you feel guaranteed to be in this city for a long time and hate the thought of moving again. What's a long commute for you - 30 minutes one-way?

Where are you moving from? Depending on where you may be pretty shocked by rental prices here.

Towson is one of the best schools in the country and two miles from the city, 20 minutes from downtown.

I would have gathered that you wouldn't want to work in Baltimore, Saturda.

Are you going to move to Silver Spring or Baltimore.

Do you desire the segregation of Baltimore?

Or do you desire the multi-culture of Silver Spring.

Personally I enjoy the multi-culture and seeing all the diversities of the earth coming together.

It's new age.

I really hope real estate agents aren't creating fake newcomer stories just so that they can post their contact info spam on these boards ...
