Hi All,

I am getting ready to purchase a home in Highlandtown, a block from the new Canton Crossing and was trying to get my accounting under control.

Can anyone tell me what they are, on average, paying for utilities (i.e., water, electric, gas, trash)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Don't you think it might depend on the size of your house and number of people living there?

$150-200 / month for gas/electric. Highly variable depending on your house. Welcome to the neighborhood, I'm a few blocks North of the Merritt. Its a great place to buy with all the new stores and apartments coming online.

Water about $100 per quarter. Trash and recycling is free (or 2.268% percent of your property value / year; ie the going tax rate).

I have a 3-level townhouse in Owings Mills and right now we are only 2 adults in the house.

gas & electric - $94- $140
water - $14 quarterly
trash - $22 monthly included with our HOA

In short, my utilities are cheaper than they were in our last apartment.

Depends on levels and how many roommates you have. I have an 1000 square foot home two level home with one other person and pay $100-200 per month on electric, but usually much closer to $100. Water is about $90 a quarter.

You can pull up the water bill for the home on the Baltimore City website. That assumes you know the number of people and their water usage, though.

As for electric, there are handy calculators online. It really depends on how many people you have, usage, etc.

Congrats on the new home, and good luck!
