How would you differentiate Baltimore people from Philadelphia people?

I guess basically I hear certain stereotypes about Philadelphia...generally a tough breed of person, probably a bit louder than your average American, etc. There is an element of 'New Jersey' stereotypes in there that Philadelphia seems to share to some degree.

Baltimore seems like a sister city to Philadelphia with many of the same characteristics. I definitely hear of Baltimore people being a bit tough as well. But for some reason, I associate as possibly a bit more laid-back or not as loud as the stereotypes of NY/NY/Phil.

Granted we're working with stereotypes here. All cities will have all kinds of different people. But, just curious how Baltimoreans would differentiate themselves from Philadelphia types of people...or even others from further up north, like New Jersey or even NYC.

Outside of sterotypes, I'd imagine they are the same type of person. Have bills to pay, go to work, and like to kick back on the weekend.

There's definitely a bravado to Philly, NYC and Boston that you don't find in Baltimore. More of a Midwest feel than northeast. Take that away, there are a lot similarities as far as architecture, passion for your city and teams, neighborhood pride amd a blue collar mindset.

This sums it up pretty well. Philly/NY/Boston feel that their cities are the best and have a bit of an arrogance (or ignorance, depending on how you look at it)- and the natives feel you shouldnt live anywhere else. Baltimoreans are more humble.. there is an underdog element, chip on the shoulder that comes from being a smaller city among some of the others.

Pittsburgh likes to compare itself to Baltimore- which I dont think that is reasonable from the few visits that I have experienced in iron city- but that is a limited opinion. I feel that Baltimore had much more to offer than Pittsburgh but less than Philly or NY. One of my favorite elements of Bmore is that it has a urban yet smaller town vibe.... best of both worlds. Cant go anywhere without running into someone I know- try doing that in NY.

The Philly sports fans are quick to condemn their players whom they believe aren't performing up to snuff. And at one of the Philadelphia Eagles games, the Philly fans booed Santa Claus. Hey, Philly's a tough gig to play.

Default Interesting...

As a Baltimorean, I admire and respect these city's BRAVADO, TOUGHNESS and INTELLIGENCE!! Baltimore needs to take notes and lessons on how to effectively harness this energy instead of being that "red-headed, demented step child living under the basement!!"

When I was in Philly around 2008, and the Phillies had beaten the Milwaukee Brewers to advanced to the World Series, the city exploded!! The energy was unbelievable..people were shouting "F*&k New York!! F&^k New York!!!"

**Humble?!! In Baltimore?! That is funny!! Underdog element, inferiority complexes, and they should have a chip on their shoulder considering how this city operates.
